In real life, the narrow way is never an option if there’s a highway to choose from. We would never choose the narrow way over an interstate. Life for many is certainly a rush. We want most of the things done at the end of the day or sooner the better. I think the correct term is “right now”. We are always in a hurry and tend to worry about too many things at the same time. Things that we shouldn’t worry not until next week or not even next month. We often worry too soon and way too much. Let us choose the narrow way and be patient. Let us wait. God will reward us if we patiently wait for Him. Many for sure can’t patiently wait. Count me out. I’ll try harder to wait.
Psalms 37:7 –Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
Mathew 6:34 – Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
The narrow way is greater and wider than we may see.
Spend more time to look farther and deeper than usual. Let us widen our views and insights in life and on many things around us. The way we think has changed us through the years it is time to check and balance our scale. It may have influenced us to become a more hardworking employee but less a parent or made us stricter but less kind. It can definitely narrow our field of vision and draw us intolerable to many things. The passing of years was a factor. However, the real culprit was the perception and the understanding of things. It may have transformed us for the better or may have reversed us to the worst. By the passing of time, we might have changed incredibly but it seems unnoticeable to us personally. Though, everyone had already an impression of who we are and even yet a reputation that we couldn’t tear. Everyone knew you except you. We changed a lot. To some it takes them gradually to change and to some it was just spontaneous. The road that we are taking can definitely change us. We need to modify our way of life because of the road conditions ahead of us. Narrow way might be a little bumpy but it should keep us slow, steady and safe.
2 Corinthians 4:18 – While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
Narrow way may seem to be slower at first.
We need to wait. Let us learn to wait. Waiting can be fun if you wait while singing, eating, relaxing or thinking. Do not wait and not do anything. Waiting is boring if you literally keep on just waiting. We have to do something productive and not simply let the clock tic. Being patient is a virtue and not everyone has it. We need to wait for things worth waiting for. The more you wait the more you’ll appreciate it. Most things don’t happen instantly although it is a trend that man is an avid inventor of “instant and quick”. Instant and fast foods, fast oil change and auto bill pay; and getting married in minutes or divorce right away are becoming the thing of our generation. As if we always need to solve the problems of being slow. We want everything faster and easier. No more place for waiting and taking your time. Let us think at least twice before we talk and do something. Funny to say, some of us may not think anymore. We just do things to get it over with. Therefore, passion and devotion is gone. Our activities become our routine. Routine becomes plain burden. Responsibility becomes accountability and liability without social regard. We get bored all the time.
Most of us want everything to be fast, if the other can make it faster the better. Who wants a slow car? Who wants a dial up internet connectivity? Who else uses a telegram? Nowadays, a simple message can’t even wait and we need to text it while driving.
Romans 5:3-4 – And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
We need patience to experience things differently. And as we experience them we develop and grow are hope of many things. We establish relationships. And letting the relationship progress naturally. The moments, the pain and the delight of experiencing it with someone will bring about the greatest hope in us. Since the affection was properly nurtured and cared upon through time.
Mathew 11:29 – Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Narrow way leads us to have a better understanding
Some may learn fast and memorize things instantaneously but still Knowledge and wisdom requires enough time. We have to learn from our Lord Jesus Christ. Understanding and knowing Him requires even more allotment. We can not say we surely know Him when we ourselves are not acquainted to our own surroundings.
Jesus Christ chose the direction towards the cross. He did not worry about many things that concerns tomorrow. Furthermore, He chose us. Through His sufferings He was able to offer us salvation. Jesus chose the narrow way.
2 Peter 3:18 – But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
Let us grow to know our Creator. To grow anything it needs time We have to give more efforts to understand Him. Wisdom is a gift that can be asked. Obviously, we need to ask first. And then before you can have it we have to wait till He hand it over to us. After which, we have to verify and confirm the contents.
Getting in the narrow way does not end the journey but an act of approval to embark. The passing of the narrow way is an expedition we have to navigate and succeed until we arrive at our final and last destination.
Acts 17:11 – These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
We need to patiently study His words for in them we may learn to handle our lives. His words are also the source of life and He is the giver of eternal life. The reward is so great and we need to double our time and spend more hours for Him. We will not choose the wide and easy road but the narrow and small. Man always chooses the easy way out but God wants us to choose the best way in. The best way is the narrow way, the most difficult one. Despite being the most difficult way if you travel with God it will surprisingly be the easiest and pleasant way.
Proverbs 14:12 – There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
We need to choose the narrow way. A narrow way that seems difficult and unpassable but to us who believes in Christ it is the only way. We should prefer to wait patiently for something priceless and invaluable. We should select to work hard and get compensated abundantly rather than a quick cash with undesirable consequences.
The easy and wide road becomes the worst road that we could take because it is the wrong way.
May our Lord Jesus Christ bless you today.
